About Ben:
Ben’s journey from small-town Lethbridge to the frontlines of Alberta’s energy and environmental policy is as dynamic as it gets.
With a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and a law degree from Harvard, he kicked off his career with a prestigious clerkship at the Court of Appeal for Ontario before returning to Alberta in 2010.
He then joined the Pembina Institute, where he combined his legal expertise with policy insights to support Alberta’s clean energy transition, fostering meaningful collaboration across industry and government.
From 2016 to 2019, Ben advised Alberta’s cabinet ministers and the Premier’s Office, shaping policy on climate, utility regulation, and electricity. He later became executive director of Solar Alberta, championing public education on renewable energy.
When he’s not guiding clients through emerging policies, Ben can be found on the street outside his Edmonton home, helping his preschooler train for a future in Olympic cycling.
A proud gardener, he’s transformed his backyard into a sprawling vegetable patch, giving his 1960s bungalow a run for its money in square footage! It’s almost enough to call him a farmer… almost.
