Office Manager (Mat Leave Position) – Calgary, Alberta

Prairie Sky Strategy (Prairie Sky) is a growing strategy, public-affairs, stakeholder relations, business development and management consulting firm operating in the Canadian prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and in Ottawa. We work with organizations in a variety of sectors including energy, electricity, mining, financial, health-care, real estate and agriculture (plus more) to help develop and implement strategy for sustainable growth in Western Canada and beyond.  Prairie Sky is an exciting and growing organization that is looking for an Office Manager to fill a one-year maternity leave position.

The ideal person for this job is someone with at least five years experience in a similar role who is meticulously organized, effective when working remotely on a team, knowledgeable with Microsoft Outlook/Office 365, comfortable with independently learning new software programs and is competent when working with and communicating with multiple team members internally and multiple clients and other stakeholders externally.  In this role, you will be responsible for working with the management team to provide administrative support and you will also oversee and manage three part-time administrative staff to ensure Prairie Sky’s office management needs function smoothly.

Skills & Competencies;

  • Multitask and manage numerous, ever-changing responsibilities on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage one’s own responsibilities while overseeing others, as well as the ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal direction.
  • Manage time and workspace with flexibility while staying organized.  
  • Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal, including using proper grammar, punctuation and spelling.  
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Outlook/Office 365 with demonstrated ability to utilize computer programs to create professional reports and documents. Previous experience with Mailchimp, EventBrite, Zoom/Zoom Webinars, WordPress (basic), and Accelo is considered an asset (demonstrated ability to learn new technology with minimal direction also considered an asset).
  • Resourcefulness and initiative to make things happen and the intuition/confidence to know when something needs to be fixed or said.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable with Prairie Sky’s six core values and, understand the importance of honesty and integrity and live by this every day.
  • Reliable, approachable and demonstrates professionalism.

We’re looking for someone who has a sense of humour, understands the importance of work-life balance and working as part of a team.  

This is a full-time, temporary position (Mat leave coverage) with flexibility to split your time working from home and at the office in Calgary (once pandemic conditions permit).  This position is available from November 1, 2021 to November 1, 2022 and offers a competitive salary, benefits, and bonus structure.
