Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made public the mandate letters he’s given to cabinet. The letters are designed to lay out in some detail the priorities and expectations the Prime Minister has for each of his cabinet ministers. All of the letters have the same preamble which includes a focus on:
- COVID-19
- Climate change.
- Clean jobs.
- Reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
- Diversity and inclusion.
- Respectful relationship with the media
- Building a strong middle class.
Each letter then has specific expectations listed that are applicable to each Minister’s portfolio which is important to understand when dealing with government departments and agencies.
