Today marks one week until Election Day, with Canadians heading to the polls on September 20th. The fourth week saw small gains for the Liberals and for the PPC in the polls, however the Liberal and Conservative Parties remain neck and neck. Last week, the Leaders faced off in two debates, one in French and one in English, from the Museum of Civilization in Gatineau.
In the French and English debates Trudeau was put on the spot from the start and throughout by all party leaders about the timing of this election. The focus of the two debates were on leadership and accountability, climate, Indigenous reconciliation and the rising cost of living. Both debates also featured rounds about each leaders’ COVID-19 responses and mandatory vaccine mandates.
Advanced polls opened on Friday and remain open until this evening. Elections Canada was expecting a higher turnout during advanced polls, with reports across the country of long lines and delays. For more information on where to vote, visit Elections Canada’s website.
The latest CBC Poll Tracker has the Conservatives remaining ahead with a narrow lead over the Liberals, however the Liberals remain favoured to win the most seats.
