Tara brings almost 30 years of political, government relations and public affairs experience with a focus on public policy advocacy, stakeholder outreach and brand reputation management.
Her career began in Ottawa with nearly a decade on Parliament Hill in public policy, strategic communications and legislative procedure, including her experience as Executive Assistant to a high-profile Member of Parliament, where she coordinated and implemented a national media strategy.
Tara was also a trusted advisor to Leaders of the Opposition and was responsible for planning and implementing the daily Question Period strategy, adhering to strict timelines and creatively managing unforeseen developments.
Tara’s private sector experience includes more than 15 years of demonstrated success across Canada, in the United States and in Europe as a respected advocate in the life sciences sector. The majority of that time was spent in various roles at AstraZeneca, a global, science-based biopharmaceutical business, where she provided strategic counsel to local and global executives and designed and delivered all external federal affairs communications materials including corporate presentations, opinion editorials, and press releases as well as internal briefing notes and impact assessments.
Tara also led government affairs nationally for Hospira Healthcare Corporation, where she developed expertise in the management of a comprehensive hospital-based portfolio, including medical devices. Tara is a trusted voice and respected leader across a broad network of patient-group and economic stakeholders, life science organizations and trade associations.
Tara expanded her public policy and regulatory expertise in support of clients in the Agriculture and Agri-Food, Environment, Manufacturing, and Financial sectors, with a specialized focus on the four western provincial governments as Managing Principal at Tactix Government Relations and Public Affairs.
Tara served on the Board of Research Canada: An Alliance for Health Discovery and holds a BA Honors in Anthropology with a Linguistics Specialization from Western University.
After 18 years in Ottawa, Tara and her family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Over the past seven years, she has enjoyed exploring the endless landmarks and experiences the prairies offer and is always excited to discover new destinations.
