We are seeking an experienced Indigenous Relations Consultant to join our team to help build and maintain these vital connections.  

Job Summary: 

The Indigenous Relations Consultant will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to engage with Indigenous communities. This position requires a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure that our clients’ projects and initiatives are culturally sensitive and beneficial to Indigenous peoples.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with clients to develop and implement strategy. 
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure projects align with Indigenous values and priorities.  
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.  
  • Advise on culturally appropriate practices and protocols.  
  • Facilitate meetings, consultations, and negotiations with Indigenous groups.  
  • Provide training and education on Indigenous cultures and issues.  

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Indigenous relations or a similar role.  
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.  
  • Experience in conflict resolution and negotiation.  
  • Education in Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field is an asset.   

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Indigenous heritage or lived experience.  
  • Experience working in a corporate or government setting.  
  • Proficiency in an Indigenous language.
