Experience:

RICK FRASER

Senior Strategy Advisor

Rick Fraser has dedicated over two decades to serving Albertans through health care, public safety, elected office, and grassroots community leadership. A lifelong Calgarian, Rick’s journey began in the rinks—playing junior and minor professional hockey—before shifting his focus to frontline care and public service.

After graduating from Augustana University/College in 2004 as an Emergency Medical Paramedic Technician, Rick immediately joined Alberta Health Services as an Advanced Care Paramedic, providing critical care to Calgarians with compassion and precision.

In 2012, Rick stepped into provincial politics, earning the Progressive Conservative nomination for Calgary-South East and winning election twice. During his first term, he held several key roles:

  • Deputy Government Whip
  • Associate Minister for Recovery & Reconstruction, leading efforts in High River during and after the devastating 2013 floods
  • Associate Minister for Public Safety
  • Legislative Secretary for Ambulance Services, where he championed improvements in emergency response systems

Following his 2019 re-election bid, Rick returned to his roots in paramedicine, continuing to serve on the front lines of health care in Calgary.

Beyond his professional roles, Rick is a passionate community builder. He has volunteered with Inn from the Cold and the Calgary Homeless Foundation, coordinated events for Paramedics in Need, and coached youth with the Bow River Basketball Association—always driven by a belief in giving back and lifting others.

Rick’s career reflects a rare blend of hands-on service, policy leadership, and unwavering dedication to the people and communities of Alberta.
