BRIAN GILBERTSON

Senior Strategy Advisor

Brian brings with him senior government relations, stakeholder engagement, issues management and communications experience through his 20 years of government, post secondary and private sector service.

Previously, Brian worked for over a decade at Agrium and Nutrien managing their Canadian and international government relations. During this time he worked on files such as climate change, competitiveness, mining, transportation, sustainability, trade, crisis communications, regulations and mergers and acquisitions (including the successful merger and integration of Agrium and Potash Corporation, and the acquisition of Viterra’s Agri-Products business). Brian has managed government and corporate relations for the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (now Ontario Tech University) and Durham College. He also spent seven years working on Parliament Hill with Agriculture and Agri Food Canada, Social Development Canada, the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), International Trade and Indian & Northern Affairs Canada.

Brian has served on the boards of Fertilizer Canada, the Government Relations Institute of Canada, the Alberta Science and Technology Foundation (ASTech), and the University of Calgary’s Advisory Board of the Latin American Research Institute. He has also served on committees of CropLife Canada, Fertilizer Canada, The Fertilizer Institute and the Resource Diversification Council.

In his spare time Brian is part owner of a grain farm in Southern Ontario and enjoys tennis, golf, skiing and spending time with family and friends.
