DOUGLAS FREEL

Douglas is Chairman of the Clean Resource Innovation Network (CRIN), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advancing clean technology in Canada’s energy sector, based in Calgary, Alberta.

Previously, Douglas served as a Managing Director at ARC Financial Corporation. In that role, he oversaw private equity investment projects with a focus on the oilfield services sector and worked closely with portfolio companies. During his over 20 years there he served on a number of boards including public, private and not for profit.

His career began as an engineer for Schlumberger Ltd, followed by a role as a research analyst for Loewen Ondaatje McCutcheon, where he developed deep expertise in energy markets and finance.

Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Queen’s University, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Toronto. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, and owns a sailboat in the Caribbean which he spends the winters on.
