Agribusiness Consultant

Cal has spent 30+ years in the agricultural industry.  He was raised on a pedigreed seed farm in Northeast Saskatchewan and holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.

Prior to joining Prairie Sky Strategy, Cal was Vice President, Operations – Agriculture at Cervus Equipment in Calgary.  Over a 19 year career at Cervus, he was an integral member of the leadership team that grew the Agricultural Division to 36 locations in 3 countries and revenues of $755 million (2019 public information).  Cal led or oversaw multiple acquisitions in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and developed a comprehensive integration process.  He aligned the company to participate in the evolution and increasing adoption of Precision Agriculture and Technology.  During Cal’s time at Cervus, the company was inducted into the John Deere Manager’s Club numerous times. This honor is given to the top 10% of John Deere dealers in North America.  Cal served on John Deere’s North American Dealer Advisory Group for 2 years.  Cal is most proud of the team of dedicated, loyal, and customer focused employees that grew and developed over his 19 year career at Cervus.  Prior to his time at Cervus, Cal spent 11 years at John Deere Ltd. working with dealers on distribution channel development, business development, sales support, product support, and optimizing equipment applications.  

With Prairie Sky, Cal is based in Alberta and is excited to help Agribusiness leaders succeed and grow their business in Western Canada by leveraging his extensive experience and education.

Cal has served as a volunteer for a number of nonprofits and has coached youth minor sports.  In his spare time, Cal likes to ski, hike, and spend time in his boat.
